An event that takes your focus will creep up ever so slowly but when it is over it disappears as if it were never there. Was it a dream?  I feel like a Garda suddenly retired who has no power or authority… ‘we are equal’ ..Reminded me of the football days.. ‘you play for leeds?  Wow..  But similar to that experience you miss inform or lead the person to believe you’re superstar when you’re only playing for the youth team!!.. The RAS was like that…blend in with the big guns for a week.. Pretend this is your livelihood..’ does anyone have a pen for me to sign this little boy’s shirt’??.. One day an over excited county lad waved at the school children in the pelaton as we rode past at a million mile an hour then face planted himself into  the tarmac..

WALLOP!! Its Monday and anyone willing to listen to a RAS story has their ear bent…’ I know they’re thinking would he ever shut up about the f’ing RAS …

Tuesday… I’ll squeeze another day out of it…  I’m at work but feel my place should be on the carlingford road spinning at 100rpm recovering…

Wednesday..  People cross the road to get away from my RAS tales…
Thursday…  LEAGUE RACE… it’s good to be back listening to james flynn knocking out one  liners like a stand up comedian as we wait to saddle up.

The RAS bubble was great while it lasted but what next. Triathlon?? Dear god no.. I just can’t get myself into swim mode.. (I hate being Shit at something) , more cycling??.. Yes why not.. At the moment time management is key and I’m not under pressure to get the training done. With triathlon there is that.. ‘have to swim.. Have to run.. Have to bike’. I’m wanted around the house more and I want to be around the house more.   When I’m just riding it doesn’t get in on me. It did before but a wiser head now has taught me to enjoy it more . No power meter. No heart rate. Just follow wheels!! I’m not putting myself under pressure to ‘ get the sessions done’. Using local races and club races to keep sharp and fit are great and I’m more social this year… but not the social the ‘ Real mates ‘ think of. I went to the local pub to meet the boys around February… As I departed early I told them I’d see them next year…

Post RAS legs

Heard so much about them.  Mine were sore for ages. The old me would’ve went out but I’ve eased back into it and decided chocolate isn’t a bad food choice after all…twirls and the kids white buttons my favourites. Oh and yogurt coated rice cakes!!

Post RAS legs gave me a 19 :32 10tt on ‘my’  castlebellingham circuit.. I call it mine because I own it. That’s a record folks! Anyone wanting to break it I’ll break their neck. In the local press the picture credit was half page of a mountain biker lad doing a jump.. Wohoo, a jump. Or maybe it was a record breaking jump…

The leinster 25tt was the other night too. Post RAS legs me hole!! I felt like dung but won in 54:03. I was surprised. I think the course gave the foreign boys a buck. Looks a lot easier driving it.  I was hoping for 52 but went out way too quick and suffered. Even punctured as I cross the line. Didn’t feel it on the ride. Must have happened yards from the line. Don’t buy competition attack tubs. I’ve punctured 4 in as many weeks!  Ouch. It was great to do a mock up for the  nationals that are next week on the same course. I want a national medal. Probably need to arrange a few lads not to turn up but I’ll give it a go. Eve my sister had a great ride and won convincingly .. Few scalps…. Enough said!
